In Your Words
What does the ENSS Garden of Hope mean to you?

“As was typical of the era, the grade 13 class went in the school-wide harrier with a theme of some sort. Ours was that we were running for Terry. He had to quit his cross-country run earlier that month and it was very much on all our minds, so we were running in his honour. We were quite possibly the first group in the country to do so.
ENSS got involved quickly in fundraising for the fight against cancer and, as many know, it has been one of the top fundraising schools in the entire country. Betty Fox visited the school several years later, and the gym was named after Terry as a result, and then even later the street in front of the school was renamed in Terry’s honour.
All this was started by a group of grade 13 students that year that thought to run for Terry.” -Suzanne Scanlon
