Space dedicated to remembrance, reflection, hope, and inspiration for future generations.
The ENSS Garden of Hope is located at the entrance of East Northumberland Secondary School in Brighton, Ontario. It was constructed between December 2019 ~ July 2020. The ENSS Garden of Hope features engraved bricks encircling the school’s flagpole and is surrounded by yellow daylilies, a special variety of hydrangea ($1 from each of these plants was donated to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation®), and two stunning purple beech trees. Visitors to the Garden are welcome anytime!
Since September 2018:
- Over 245 bricks have been dedicated and engraved, with many more available to be chosen
- Over $9,600 has been donated to the Terry Fox Foundation on behalf of people dedicated bricks

Late December 2019 ~ Construction of the walls. 
The ‘Garden’ is carefully filled with blank bricks in various sizes. 
Blank bricks fill the ‘garden’ and the walls take shape. The blank bricks will be replaced by engraved ones in Spring ’20. 
DECEMBER 23, 2019 – Donor walls are partially built; construction is finished for the Winter. 
The two purple columnar beech are planted. 
Donor wall has the outer layer of bricks added, along with the engraved ‘building fund’ sponsor bricks 
Engraved bricks replace the blank stones. Each location for the engraved bricks has been carefully chosen. 
The dedication stone is the last stone to be placed. This happened during Covid’19 lockdown so it was a quiet moment. 
Planting time! Yellow daylilies and Invincible II smooth hydrangea are planted in the garden beds surrounding the stones. Fun Fact: $1 from each hydrangea planted was donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (a private U.S. research facility sponsored by the Proven Winners 
More engraved bricks are installed.
